While many school corporations across the state of Indiana are working to navigate the challenges that come with declining student enrollment, Avon Schools has had the privilege of working to find ways to provide the best educational experience to an ever-increasing number of students.

Since Avon Schools last completed a new school construction project — in 2010 with the opening of River Birch Elementary — enrollment has increased by more than 2,000 students.

Because of the conservative fiscal approach of district leaders, we are able to issue debt for this new construction project as current debts are paid off.

We have worked diligently to bring down the debt tax rate, and we are proud of the results. We have reduced this rate 20% since 2017. Thanks to the wise fiscal stewardship of the Avon Board of School Trustees and our corporation administrators, we are able to complete the construction of Avon Middle School West with no debt tax rate increase to taxpayers and without the use of referendum funds.
