Early Dismissal Procedure & Absence Reporting

When a student needs to leave school early for an appointment, you can email us so that we can provide your student an Early Dismissal pass so he/she can be in the office ready to leave when you arrive.

Whenever someone other than a parent or guardian will be picking up your student during the school day,  please include his/her name in your email as we will need to verify their photo ID before releasing your student.  Once we verify their photo ID we will then sign out your student and they will be all set to leave.

You may also email this same email address if you would like to report your student absent for the day.  Please include in your email the student’s name, date of absence, grade, your phone number, and the reason for the absence.

We will reply to your email so that you know it has been received.

Traffic Pattern

Morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up time can be busy. To ensure everyone is safe and that traffic flows smoothly, please familiarize yourself with our drop-off and pick-up procedures.

Avon School Police Department Chief Sam Leahy wants to take you on a tour of the pick-up and drop-off route at Avon Middle School West.

  • We ask that families approach the property from the south using County Road 200 South​.
  • Approaching from the south, bypass the first driveway which is for buses only during the school day​.
  • Turn left into the main entrance by the marquee sign​.
  • Enter the driveway and proceed straight.​
  • Once you reach the area where the road widens to two lanes, choose one.​
  • Proceed around the turn, maintaining your lane.​
  • Once you see Orange bollards, take turns merging into the right lane.​
  • Drop off along the curb that is highlighted in green. Staff will assist you in knowing how far to pull up​.
  • Follow the lane back out through the parking lot and back to the main entrance at County Road 450 South.
